Ph.D. and Postdoc positions
Several positions for Ph.Ds and postdocs are available at the Institute for Computational Physics in the area of Computational and Theoretical Soft Matter and Biophysics.
The positions are in the group of Christian Holm. In particular we look for applicants in the field of
Simulations in the field of Heterogeneous Nucleation of Colloids, dense Ferrofluids, and Hydrogels, as well as Polyelectrolyte Multilayers and Biomolecules
Common to all applicants should be a strong background to MD or MC simulational strategies, and knowledge of basic soft matter background (polymers, colloids) or knowledge in atomistic modelling (biomolecules, proteins). The simulations and any other code development will be performed using the software package ESPResSo.
There will be ample opportunity to interact with other researchers at Stuttgart, the Max Planck Institute for Metalphysics, the Max-Planck-Institut für Polymerforschung (MPI-P) in Mainz, and the University of Stuttgart.
All position are initially for one year, renewable upon mutual agreement. Candidates should have a Masters degree in a quantitative discipline (see above) and a keen interest in several of the lab's research areas. Applicants should submit:
- resume (including date of birth, grades, awards, publications),
- statement of research interests (up to 2 pages),
- names and email addresses of 2-3 references
- links to their thesis and/or publications
Positions will remain open until filled. Please send applications via email to holm@icp.uni-stuttgart.de.
Students
We are constantly looking for motivated HiWis (student helpers) who can do basic programming tasks in C, and can help with producing animated videos and graphics, using VMD.
