Download synthetic micro-computed tomograms (s-µCT)
To download the data files for the three highest resolutions (larger than 26 GB), please send a mail to R. Hilfer to plan the transfer. The data are distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License.
File format (gbd = raw)
The data are stored in raw format. In addition the data files are compressed with gzip. The abbreviation gbd stands for gray byte data. Data files are headerless. The data are stored using 1 byte for the gray value of a single voxel. Voxels are arranged in z[y[x]] order. The first byte is the gray value for the voxel at z = y = x = 0, the second byte is the gray value for the voxel at z = y = 0, x = 1, the third byte is the value for the voxel at z = y = 0, x = 2 and so on. The data can be opened, viewed and converted to other formats using e.g. ImageJ. To read the data into ImageJ use the function "File-Import-Raw" with "Image Type" = 8-bit.
Sample splitting
Sample sidelength is 1.5cm. Resolutions are in units of 0.9155273437 µm, so that the number of voxel in every cube is a power of 2. For resolutions 128, 64, 32, 16, the full sample with sidelength 1.5 cm can be downloaded as a single file. For resolutions 8, 4, 2, 1, 0.5 the sample is equally split into cubic subsamples. Each subsample is of size 1024x1024x1024 voxel. This results in 8, 64, 512, 4096, 32768 cubic subsamples for resolutions 8, 4, 2, 1, 0.5 respectively.
